This magnificient architecture in Venice, former palace of the Dandolo family, also housed during the 15th century the earliest "Ridotto" of the city, a sort of retreat for patricians and lower-class people looking for different kinds of leisure: courtesans, gambles, brawls and political plots. The structure has a rich and picaresque past and Giacomo Casanova especially enjoyed it, being one of its famous and frequent visitors. A more sober yet equally rich atmosphere exudes now from these renovated walls, brought back to their original glory, which contain a luxury hotel equipped with the latest amenities. The Hotel Monaco features 100 guest rooms, richly appointed and charecterized by an ancient alluring grandeur. Excellent conference facilities up to 250 delegates and 8 halls for seminars and meetings are all provided by the hotel in an unrivalled Venetian frame. The Grand Canal restaurant serves tempting delicacies from the local cuisine within a warm refined ambiance. The hotel's exclusive Restaurant buzzes at lunch and dinner with both the Venetian and international devotees of its superb cuisine and service. Start your day with the continental breakfast with fresh in house baked pastries and fresh pressed juice served at our Restaurant "Grand Canal", and in fine weather on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal, American Breakfast, is served a la carte (with surcharge) .

I like this hotel which is excellent but i feel that some work would be necessary to keep the rooms at the right level.

Staying at thehotel monaco is like being in the italy of forty years ago -- the hotel is elegant, the concierge is charming, the desk personnel are courteous and helpful, the restaurant offers wonderful food served by experienced and attentive waiters. the hotel offers a respite from the hustle of the tourist-filled streets of venice.

We always enjoy staying at the monaco, though prices have risen sharply and have probably reached prohibitive levels for the likes of us. would recommend to those with very deep pockets. 'no opinion' about breakfast because we didn't take it, the price being so remarkably high! tea and coffee making facilities in-room would be welcome.

We traveled to other areas in italy on this trip and stayed in similarly rated hotels as this and in our opinion the price of the breakfast buffet at 35 euros per person was very surprising and was not very inviting when considering available alternatives in the area. we realize that this is an upscale hotel but it would have been nice if you featured some less expensive alternatives that made it more attractive to dine in at the hotel. this is the only critique we have during our stay as you can see from our responses above.
