Ideally situated close to the famous landmarks yet quiet and peaceful; historic building full of atmosphere yet with all mod cons; friendly, helpful staff - perfect!

We discovered the Antico Doge around ten years ago and have stayed there many times since, as have many of our family members and friends. We enjoy Venice in the Winter and there is nothing more pleasant than to return to the decorative brilliance of the hotel, the warmth of the fabric covered walls, parquet flooring, Rococo-style furniture, and the general comfort of the rooms. The management and staff are very friendly and helpful, but discreet, which suits us, as the effect is that the hotel feels pretty much like being at home. For us, the Antico Doge is part of our regular Venice experience and we cannot imagine staying anywhere else in La Serenisima.

This was a wonderful experience well above expectations. Our deluxe canal view room was immaculately kept and perfect, the breakfast in a marvellous room very enjoyable, then surprise we were upgraded to the master suite on day 2/3, which was like a scene from a stately home tour, except we were in it, a room for princess and prince, with a balcony over the square, canal, and view of the clock tower. Truly unbeatable. The location is unbeatable too, a short walk to Rialto, a few more minutes to St Marcs, and central for everything, we were able to walk everywhere. Thanks to Antico Doge and all their staff!

Staff were particularly friendly and helpful

Pillows are a "Killer", flat and hard;I understand this is normal in Italian hotel's, it is not appreciated for non-italian residents.

We were really happy with this hotel. Service was great - it was well located - and the rooms were excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality. Would definitely recommend this to others.

This hotel looks charming in the pics but some of the furniture is not in good conditions. The bed is very hard. Besides this they charge you for everything like internet which is quite expensive. You must be told in advance about this single matter which increases considerably your balance.

I really enjoyed my staff and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel was beautiful and was perfectly located. I would stay again.

I loved this hotel's charm, ambience, and elegance mixed all together into one :)~~~ The rooms were very spacious with lovely furniture; the beds were big and had ornate cloth headboards. The walls were covered with a brocaded fabric resembling silk and were just gorgeous to look at and enjoy the regal design as you walked through the hotel. We did not stay in one of the fancier rooms with the chandeliers but we had fancy antique light fixtures on each side of our bed and a nice crystal standing light which was lovely. The bathroom was a splendid Italian marble and it had an inviting tub/shower mix. The ceiling in our room had the huge original beams, painted white which were impressive to look at and admire the age of the hotel~ updated for your comfort level, but still had that feel of true Venice. We were on the second floor (room 210) and it was not as cool as I liked it to be but it was comfortable~you may ask to be on floor one if you like coolness. We had a slight side view of the canal which was nice also but it wasn't considered a canal view but we liked it. I would stay here again the next time I come to Venice. The rates were reasonable considering the high costs of Venice hotels etc. This was listed as a 3 star hotel but it definitely a 4 star hotel from my viewpoint :)~~~In the entrance, there is a beautiful marble inlaid floor and as you walk through out the hotel, they have wonderful zigzagged hardwood floors. The dining area was elegant & quaint with a painted ceiing of cherubs and nice marble topped table and fabric covered chairs. The internet at the hotel was not up to date but you could walk right next door the to left get on easily and reasonably. You do take the Rialto Bridge drop off from the Ferry (waterboat) and you have to wind in about 3 blocks of walking but it was not too hard to find and you adjusted quickly to the location. Really adored this place and if you can get a canal view, it is worth it to spend the money~the canal is not the Grand Canal but a smaller one that branches off of the larger one. We took a water taxi right from the hotel at the end of our stay which was convenient but it did cost 95 Euros but we were told if you go to the opening of the Grand Canal by the waterferry, you can go for 13 Euros a person with a water taxi (we were in a rush to catch our plane). I loved Venice and really have nothing negative to say~only to express the true beauty of the colors and the ornateness of each building you see~You will be in AWE at the Old World appearance that runs through out the whole city~it definitely beats in France even though France was nice to view. Venice won my heart for sure :)and this hotel was a wonderful place to stay~

I was at this hotel in 2008 for two nights between Christmas and New Years with my husband and two teenage daughters. We stayed in one of the quad rooms. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I am in Venice. The room was very spacious and the hotel was in an excellent location near the Rialto Bridge, so we could walk to everything. Lots of sites and activities just outside the door. We had a small window with a nice view onto the belltower square and lively, small bridge by the hotel, but still our room was very quiet inside. The room furnishings were lovely and the bath was very nice. The staff at the desk were informative and helpful, giving us a free map and making recommendations for restaurants and other activities. The breakfast room was well decorated and the breakfast was ample (yogurt, fruit, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee). No elevator, but a man was on hand to carry our bag up to the second floor and into our room, so this was not a problem. Great value for the money!

Hôtel magnifique pour un 3 étoiles. Service impeccable. Deux remarques néanmoins : attention pas de règlement par chèque et un peu décentré. Je le conseille vivement.

The Antico Doge is in a great location and the decor is highly Venetian. It is just missing something that would make it a great place to stay. I can't put my finger on it. Here are some things that turned me off. The room smelled so they put a perfume in the room. We opened the windows. The bed is not so comfortable. The wall to wall carpeting is a bit old. Compared to what you get at other hotels it is good value.
